On Truck Computing

Over the past few years we have been working with our tanker equipment supplier to develop the use of an truck computing system. We were looking for a system that would allow us to pass data to and from the tankers whilst they were away from the depot. The system had to be reliable and comply with all the rules and regulations which apply to electronic equipment on petroleum tankers. The system has proved to be a great success and allows us to pass orders to and from the vehicle whilst its out on the road.
This means that urgent orders can be delivered with full documentation which allows us for example to produce a correct VAT invoice at the point of delivery, sometimes within minutes of the order being placed. The data is passed back to the office accurately and electronically therefore reducing the possibility of human error.
