Police Warning Re Oil Theft

Dear Householder

As you will be aware, the price of fuel has risen sharply recently, and unfortunately this appears to have made domestic heating oil a target for theft.

There have been a number of domestic oil thefts in the Lancashire area, where full tanks of oil have been stolen of a value of up to £500 per theft.  This is a problem that is also occurring in other parts of the country and unfortunately is on the increase.

Could I therefore urge you to review the security at your property and consider making it harder for the would be thief to target your home.  Consider the installation of motion-activated lighting, and screening your tank with wooden or metal fencing.

If you are aware of any suspicious activity in your area, please contact the Police immediately.
